Recall efforts are a serious type of petition to remove a faulty political repre
sentative. It is important to understand that a recall always has a cost. However, in the Election coming up on March 8th, 2011, the cost is very minimal as the Recall Election is combined with the regular General Election. R.E.EckII can make light of the Recall against claiming it is costly and unnecessary. This is nothing more than a man with a political ship that's been torpedoed and he's trying to plug the hole with a cork.
The Incident that brought this Recall about was a Road Rage altercation occurring October, 2nd, 2009 between R.E.EckII and his twenty-one year old son against a motorcycle rider and his wife. |

This incident resulted in charges of DUI and four felonies, that is, road rage. R.E.EckII can claim "innocence" because the case has continued to be stalled. This Recall was done mainly because there is a history in this case of justice being delayed. R.E.EckII's behavior is well documented and his blood toxicology clearly indicated that he was impaired behind the wheel. According to toxicology results obtained by "Independent Newspapers," R.E.EckII had levels of diazepam, nordiazepam and zolpidem in his blood stream during the time of the October, 2nd, 2009 incident.
The stated reason for the Recall is: "Violation of Oath of Office and failure to protect the public trust." The Oath of Office of the City of Apache Junction states that he is to "faithfully and impartially discharge the duties of the office…" We the public trust our leaders to act within the law as well as to a higher standard of ethical and reasonable behavior. R.E.EckII had choices. None of those choices included a rage that would make our City less than respected.
Our reputation as a City has been in question for a very long time. All the Council members have made statements since 2007 that they would work to rectify this problem. This is R.E.EckII's second time in bringing negative attention to the City.
